Canaree nominated for AmCham’s Youth Entrepreneurship Award
Exciting news!
Sara, one of our co-founders, has been nominated for the AmChamEU Youth Entrepreneur Award for her role as Canaree’s CEO.
AmChamEU and JA Europe have teamed up to showcase young people who have become entrepreneurs and have taken companies past the initial startup phase, exhibiting it’s great potential as a business.
Sara and Canaree made it into the top five, out of the 19 entrepreneurs that were shortlisted. As a final contender, she will be pitching Canaree to an esteemed jury of policy makers and business leaders in an online final.
Also in contention for the award are four other amazing female entrepreneurs and their startup companies:
Kirija Kandiah
and her company Adventures with Amara, a collection of children’s books that tackle complex social issues in a digestible way
Cécilia Mzayek
and Celuna (TimeNinja) , a time management app for students, that uses artificial intelligence
Stéphanie Roland
with Saana, a scientific diet intervention app for cancer patients
Dominika Podolanová
and the environmental waste specialist app, WakiVaky, which aims to upcycle textile waste.
Securing the winning spot would give us the opportunity to share our business plans with policy makers, business representatives and stakeholders of interest, as well as receiving prize money of €10,000, meaning that Canaree will really be able to get it’s wings off the ground.
We’re really excited to show off Canaree as an empowering, educational platform to helps founders improve their future finances and also showcase Sara as a successful entrepreneur who is empowering other women to do as she has.
Fingers, toes, arms, and legs are crossed that we win!
*EDIT*
Since this post, we learned that the winner of the award was Stéphanie Roland with her nutrition app, Saana. Using a sophisticated algorithm, cancer patients have a personalised food suggestions created for them to improve their quality of life and increase chance of remission.
We say it’s an honourable loss on our part.
A massive congratulations to Roland and her innovation that is going to transform and save lives.
